Mahtomedi's Boy Scout Troop 389 was founded in 2002 and is sponsored  by the Wildwood Lions Club. Though we are a young troop of only a few years, we are on a fast track to provide experiences that are equal to, other much older Troops, we meet every Monday night at 7:00pm at OHA Elementary school. Every now and then we have an off site meeting at places for activities such as: bowling, Climbing, Hiking, etc... instead of a meeting, and every first or second Monday of every month we have a PLC (Patrol Leader Council) meeting at 6:00pm. Our current troop leader has over twenty years of experience as a Troop leader, leading scouts on their journey to become Eagle Scouts. We are sponsored by the Wildwood Lions Club.

Currently we have 25 registered Scouts in our troop, with ranks consisting of 1 Scouts, 2 Tenderfoot, 7 2nd Class, 2 1st Class, 6 Star, 7 Life, 389 is looking forward to having our first Eagle Scout soon, with 7 Life scouts currently working towards this high achievement. We have a total of 12 dedicated leaders and committee members, striving to insure the future of Troop 389.

The troop does many activities including service projects for our community and District, such as park clean ups, camp improvements, Scouting for Food. Every year we enjoy camping at such places as:

  •         Tomahawk Scout Reservation, here every troop in the Northern Star Council gathers together for a great summer. Where we work on Merit Badges and enjoy many outdoor and camping activities.

  •         Canadian fishing trip. For this, we camp on an island for four-five days, The camp entrance is a 45 minute boat ride away from where we launch. For this camp out you need to be a first class scout, thirteen years of age, and need to go on at least half of the troops camp outs.

  •          Fred C. Anderson Scout Camp is a camp out that we do not have a set schedule of activities. At the end of the weekend we cross over the webelos scouts into our troop.  this camp out is considered our "fun camp out"

  •          Our leader has a cabin that the Patrol Leader Council (PLC) plans the yearly calendar of events. we also go fishing to pass the extra time by.

We also do some other weekend camp outs at various places such as: Tetegouche State Park by Silver Bay, Camporees, Jamborees, and more.
